Hi, I'm Joseph Addy, MDIV, CSAT

I didn’t plan to be a therapist. Teacher, diplomat, or writer were more of what I had in mind. It wasn’t until I later reflected on my personal and family journey that I realized the myriad experiences that were preparing me for what I do today.

I believe in stories

They can shape how we view ourselves, others, and our place in the world. Sometimes these narratives can be unhelpful, limiting, or even harmful.

My own story involves an upbringing in a context with certain stigmas around mental health, illness, and addictions. I witnessed my siblings struggle with schizophrenia and they navigated life and homelessness as refugees in Canada.

I learned early to listen deeply–not only to what was said, but the feelings that remained unspoken.

In my work with clients, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your own story at your own pace–while inviting you to identify aspects of your narrative that may no longer serve you.

Outside of therapy…

You’ll find me geeking out over cameras and lenses, whipping shea butter in my kitchen, or reading an engrossing fantasy novel. Otherwise, I’ll be procrastinating starting a podcast or Youtube channel.
